Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Test & Development Engineer
(Dev/Research Engineer 2). The work will be done onsite in Mossville, IL. This is a long-term position that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is up to $43/hr + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).
Job Summary
We are seeking a Test & Development Engineer
(Dev/Research Engineer 2) to support the design, analysis, and validation of aftertreatment and emissions systems within a mechanical engineering environment. This role focuses on evaluating system performance, supporting component design (such as catalyst canning and DEF systems), and analyzing test data to drive engineering decisions. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues, support validation testing, and contribute to continuous product improvement. This position offers hands-on exposure to engine systems, data analysis, and product development in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Analyze test cell and field data to evaluate aftertreatment system performance and identify issues
• Support design and development of aftertreatment components, including catalyst canning and DEF systems
• Troubleshoot system issues and support validation activities during installation and testing
• Develop and interpret engineering drawings and support print release processes using CAD tools
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and purchasing to support prototype development and project execution
• Perform FMEA analysis and contribute to validation planning and testing activities
• Track hardware usage and ensure proper documentation and lifecycle management
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field
• 2–5 years of relevant engineering experience in design, testing, or product development
• Experience with 3D CAD tools and ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with engine systems or aftertreatment/emissions systems
• Familiarity with data analysis tools such as CANape or DatK
• Experience with performance data analysis and validation testing
• Knowledge of FMEA, product development processes, and prototype development
• Exposure to lab or test cell environments
