Systems Engineer 4 (Autonomous Drill Integration and Validation Engineer - 1st shift) (85778-1)
Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Systems Engineer 4.
The work will be done onsite, full-time at a remote proving ground location in Tucson, AZ. This is a long-term 24-month position that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is up to $62/hr + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).
Job Summary
Cullerton Group is seeking a Systems Engineer to support autonomous machine integration, testing, and validation activities. This role focuses on hands-on testing of autonomous systems, developing and executing test plans, and analyzing performance data to improve system reliability. The engineer will troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and software issues while working closely with operators and software development teams. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with large equipment in real-world environments and contributing to advanced autonomous technologies.
Key Responsibilities
• Create and update test and development plans for autonomous machine testing
• Execute on-machine testing and validation activities
• Analyze test data and document results, issues, and recommendations
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and software-related system issues
• Communicate findings clearly through reports and collaboration with cross-functional teams
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent experience in control systems, vehicle systems, or autonomous technologies
• 5–7 years of relevant experience (less with a master’s degree; internships accepted)
• Strong troubleshooting skills in complex systems
• Computer proficiency with Windows operating systems
• Ability to work independently in a physically demanding, outdoor environment
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with autonomous systems (perception, planning, positioning)
• Familiarity with Linux or Ubuntu operating systems
• Test planning, documentation, and validation experience
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
