Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Project Manager, Power Systems Programs in Chicago, IL (Rogers Park). The work will be done onsite. This is a permanent job. Compensation is up to $150K/yr (base + bonus). Additionally, this position includes and annual employee stock option plan contiribution. 
Project Manager – Power Systems Programs
Location: Hybrid (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
Travel: Up to 40%, including occasional overnight and international travel

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee complex, customer-facing initiatives within the electric power sector. This individual will lead large-scale service and engineering programs from contract award through completion, ensuring alignment with client expectations, financial objectives, and internal performance standards. Projects may include engineering studies, system design and integration, factory and site testing, field commissioning, preventive maintenance programs, retrofit initiatives, and deployment of protection and automation solutions. This role partners closely with sales teams, engineering groups, operations, and field personnel to deliver successful outcomes and a superior customer experience.

Primary Responsibilities

Project Initiation and Planning

  • Launch projects following contract execution, including budget alignment, documentation setup, and system entry.

  • Define project scope, deliverables, timelines, responsibilities, milestones, and quality checkpoints.

  • Build cross-functional teams and assign clear ownership for project tasks.

Execution and Coordination

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive schedules using project management software tools.

  • Lead recurring status meetings, document action items, and ensure follow-through from all stakeholders.

  • Provide consistent updates to customers and internal leadership through structured reporting.

  • Manage multiple active projects simultaneously with minimal supervision.

Risk and Financial Oversight

  • Identify potential project risks and implement mitigation strategies to maintain schedule and budget performance.

  • Monitor project costs, track financial performance, and prepare revenue and expense forecasts.

  • Support change management processes when project scope adjustments occur.

Customer Engagement and Business Development

  • Cultivate strong client relationships and serve as a primary point of contact throughout project execution.

  • Support proposal development by assisting in defining scope, timelines, and budget estimates for new opportunities.

  • Evaluate project performance against customer expectations and organizational objectives.

Continuous Improvement and Compliance

  • Capture feedback from project participants and drive process improvements.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and quality requirements.

  • Maintain required certifications and complete ongoing professional training.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.

  • Minimum of five years of project management experience within the electric power industry in a customer-facing capacity.

  • Professional project management certification (PMP or equivalent) preferred.

Technical and Industry Background

  • Demonstrated experience managing medium- or high-voltage utility-scale electrical equipment and service projects.

  • Background working with electrical equipment manufacturers is advantageous.

  • Experience supporting data center applications, equipment installation, testing, and commissioning is highly desirable.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong command of project management methodologies and best practices.

  • Proficiency with tools such as Microsoft Project, Asana, or comparable systems; experience with Oracle is a plus.

  • Solid understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and financial tracking.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present to stakeholders at all organizational levels.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining high customer satisfaction.

  • Effective interpersonal skills to foster collaboration, resolve conflicts, and align diverse teams toward common objectives.

Work Environment
This position is primarily office-based within a manufacturing setting, with periodic travel to substations, transmission and distribution facilities, commercial and industrial sites, and government installations. Frequent computer use is required.
