Mechanical Engineer 5 (85750-1)
Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer 5. The work will be done onsite full-time in Mossville, IL. This is a long-term position (12 months) that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is up to approximately $63/hr + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).
Job Summary
Cullerton Group is seeking a senior-level Mechanical Engineer to support the architecture and development of advanced electric powertrain systems across multiple machine platforms. This role focuses on designing, modeling, and integrating electric powertrain components using digital engineering tools. The engineer will collaborate closely with product architects and technical leaders to deliver optimized power-path solutions for virtual, lab, and testbed demonstrations. This position is ideal for an experienced engineer with strong fundamentals in electrification and system-level design.
Key Responsibilities
• Architect and configure full electric powertrain systems across diverse machine platforms
• Develop optimized power-path concepts integrating electric machines, power sources, power conversion, and electro-mechanical-hydraulic systems
• Build and deploy scalable subsystem and component models for power electronics, electric machines, and power sources
• Refine and synthesize new electric powertrain designs using first-principles engineering analysis
• Collaborate with architects and technical stewards to support product strategy, integration, and simulation efforts
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering (Master’s or PhD preferred)
• 10+ years of professional engineering experience (8+ years considered with advanced degrees)
• Strong experience with CAE tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, Simscape, Simcenter, or Ansys
• Proficiency in Python for engineering or modeling applications
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical teams
Preferred Qualifications
• Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• Experience with electrified powertrain systems, including low, medium, or high-voltage applications
• Background in system architecture, integration, and simulation environments
• Self-starter mindset with strong problem-solving and emotional intelligence
