Job Description
Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer 2. The work will be done onsite in Mossville, Illinois. This is a 12-month position that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is up to $38/hour + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).
Job Summary
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support performance and durability testing of electric-drive components and systems. This hands-on role will manage testing activities from test-plan development and equipment preparation through test execution, data analysis, and results reporting. The engineer will troubleshoot mechanical systems, test stands, controls, and devices under test while collaborating with design, controls, simulation, and facility engineering teams. The position is approximately 70% laboratory work and 30% desk-based analysis and documentation.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop test plans for electric-drive components and systems
• Coordinate device-under-test modifications, instrumentation, installation, and laboratory preparation
• Execute performance and durability tests and analyze the resulting data
• Troubleshoot mechanical systems, test stands, controls, instrumentation, and testing issues
• Summarize findings, prepare technical presentations, document conclusions, and lead weekly update meetings
• Research and evaluate mechanical products, equipment, systems, and processes
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, specifications, and technical reports
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams throughout product development and testing
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
• Two to four years of relevant engineering experience; applicable internship experience may be considered
• Previous hands-on testing experience in a laboratory, product-development, or engineering environment
• Product-development experience involving mechanical or electromechanical components and systems
• Demonstrated mechanical-system troubleshooting skills
• Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation
• Familiarity with CAD or other engineering software
• Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to facilitate meetings, present technical results, and manage multiple testing activities
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting performance or durability testing of motors, generators, electric drives, or related components
• Experience using DEWESoft data-acquisition systems
• Familiarity with CANape
• Experience with instrumentation, data acquisition, test-cell operation, and engineering data analysis
• Previous experience as a Test Engineer or Development Engineer
• Experience in heavy equipment, automotive, industrial machinery, or electrification product development
