Cullerton Group has a new opportunty for a Manufacturing Quality Engineer in Chicago, IL (Rogers Park neighborhood). The work will be done onsite. This is a permanent job. Compensation is $95K - $125K/yr, baseed on experience, plus 10% annual bonus and employee stock contribution.

Monday through Friday
8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (On-site)

Compensation
The annual base salary range for this position is $95,000 – $125,000, depending on experience, qualifications, and overall expertise. Final compensation will reflect individual performance history, technical capability, and educational background. This position may also be eligible for a performance-based annual bonus program.

Position Summary

The Manufacturing Quality Engineer I plays a key role in elevating production quality standards and driving operational improvements. This individual partners across departments to strengthen manufacturing processes, address complex quality challenges, and implement scalable solutions that improve consistency and customer satisfaction.

Primary Responsibilities

• Enterprise Quality Initiatives: Spearhead cross-functional efforts aimed at enhancing manufacturing quality systems and positively influencing core operational performance indicators.

• Advanced Root Cause Analysis: Investigate multifaceted production quality issues, determine underlying causes, and implement long-term corrective and preventive actions.

• Field Issue Resolution: Lead containment and resolution strategies for product escapes, collaborating with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to prevent recurrence and protect customer confidence.

• Cost of Poor Quality Reduction: Identify drivers of scrap, rework, and warranty-related expenses; coordinate containment actions such as production holds or shipment pauses when required; implement sustainable improvements.

• Technical Drawing & Specification Review: Evaluate engineering documentation, inspection criteria, and deviation processes to ensure clarity, compliance, and manufacturability.

• Quality Methodology Deployment: Apply structured quality tools and data-driven methodologies to improve process capability and operational outcomes.

• Project Oversight: Direct large-scale quality improvement initiatives that involve multiple stakeholders and departments.

• Operational Partnership: Provide hands-on quality engineering support to manufacturing teams, driving corrective action and continuous improvement activities.

• Data & Performance Metrics: Analyze quality data, trends, and feedback loops to identify systemic improvement opportunities in both design and process controls.

• Coaching & Development: Mentor junior quality engineers and promote a culture centered on accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.

• Industry Best Practices: Stay current with advancements in quality engineering techniques and integrate relevant innovations into existing processes.

• Policy & Standards Adherence: Ensure compliance with all internal procedures, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• 1–3 years of progressive experience in manufacturing quality engineering within the electrical sector or a comparable industry.
• Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Demonstrated experience leading quality improvement initiatives and resolving complex production issues. Familiarity with Six Sigma methodologies is advantageous.
• Understanding of Quality Management Systems, including ISO 9001 standards.
• Experience applying statistical analysis and quality tools to manufacturing environments.
• Exposure to RMA, nonconforming material review, and cross-functional coordination related to rejected products.
• Strong project management capabilities with the ability to lead through ambiguity and evolving priorities.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and structured problem-solving abilities.
• Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, including presentation capabilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and experience with Power BI or similar data visualization tools.

Preferred

• ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) credential.

Work Environment

• Primarily office and manufacturing facility setting, with occasional exposure to both climate-controlled and non-climate-controlled environments.
• Periodic exposure to manufacturing conditions including noise, moving equipment, and industrial machinery.
• Infrequent exposure to environmental factors such as dust, fumes, temperature extremes, or energized systems.
• Adherence to safety protocols required when working near production equipment or powered machinery.
