Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Dev/Research Engineer 2 in Tucson, Arizona. This is a 100% onsite position. This is a long-term, 12-month assignment that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is up to $55.00/hour + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401(k), and holiday pay).

Job Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Dev/Research Engineer to support machine software and controls development through testing and validation of current and next-generation equipment. In this role, you will execute software and controls testing, troubleshoot complex electrical and software systems, and collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure products meet performance, quality, and customer requirements. This position offers a unique opportunity to work directly with large industrial equipment in both shop and field environments while contributing to cutting-edge technology development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, execute, and document software and controls testing for machine systems.
  • Develop test plans, perform validation activities, and analyze test results.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, electronic, and software-related issues using diagnostic tools.
  • Collaborate with engineers, technicians, operators, and cross-functional teams to complete validation projects.
  • Utilize CANape, CANalyzer, Excel, Power BI, and Microsoft Office to collect, analyze, and communicate test data.
  • Promote a strong safety culture while identifying opportunities to improve product quality, efficiency, and customer value.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Associate degrees will not be considered).
  • 1–2 years of engineering experience (internship experience is acceptable).
  • Experience with testing or validation in heavy equipment, automotive, industrial machinery, construction, mining, forestry, or agricultural equipment.
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical, electronic, or software-controlled systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to work in indoor and outdoor environments and spend the majority of the day on your feet around heavy equipment.
  • Ability to safely operate equipment after training.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing and executing machine or system-level testing strategies.
  • Familiarity with CANape, CANalyzer, Power BI, and data acquisition tools.
  • Hands-on mechanical experience through construction, automotive, landscaping, equipment maintenance, or similar environments.
  • Experience with industrial equipment software validation.
