Job Description


Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Project Manager of IT Security & DevOps. This is a part-time (10 hours/week) consulting engagement. The work will be done remotely. Compensation is $80/hr W2. 

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Project Manager to oversee and execute critical IT security and DevOps initiatives. The role involves managing the implementation of an Azure Firewall, addressing application security concerns, and optimizing the organization's DevOps environment. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure smooth execution, effective documentation, and ongoing support planning. This is a part-time contractor role with a maximum commitment of 0.25 FTE weekly hours, requiring flexibility to adapt to project needs and schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Azure Firewall Implementation:
  2. Manage the end-to-end project for adding an Azure Firewall to the environment, including finalizing requirements, creating a project plan, conducting testing, and implementing the firewall.
  3. Ensure necessary alerts are in place with comprehensive documentation on how to address them.
  4. Document ongoing changes that may be required and establish clear procedures for making these changes.

  5. Application Security Review:
  6. Collaborate with internal teams to address security concerns with applications, using the latest risk register from penetration testing as a starting point.
  7. Develop and document plans to mitigate identified risks and implement necessary security measures.

  8. DevOps Environment Optimization:
  9. Assess the current environment to identify areas for improvement, including items that can be retired or streamlined for easier support.
  10. Create actionable plans to transition DevOps support from the offshore provider and define best practices for ongoing support.

  11. Support Recommendations:
  12. Provide recommendations for the ongoing footprint of DevOps to support the organization effectively.
  13. Ensure all documentation and processes align with industry best practices for managing sensitive data, including PHI/PII.

Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in IT project management, with a focus on security and DevOps.
  • Strong knowledge of Azure Firewall implementation and management.
  • Experience working with security risk registers and penetration testing results.
  • Familiarity with DevOps environments and strategies for optimizing support processes.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong documentation skills to ensure clarity and usability of project plans and recommendations.

Commitment Expectations:
  • Work up to 0.25 FTE weekly hours, with flexibility to adapt to project commitments.
  • Obtain prior approval for additional hours from the VP of Tech Enabled Services.
  • Handle PHI/PII securely, using a provided company laptop for all work-related activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Azure Firewall Implementation:
  2. Lead the project to implement an Azure Firewall, including requirements gathering, planning, testing, and production deployment.
  3. Establish and document alerting mechanisms and provide guidance for addressing alerts.
  4. Create comprehensive documentation for managing future changes to the firewall configuration.

  5. Security Enhancements:
  6. Collaborate with internal teams to identify and address security concerns based on recent penetration testing and risk register findings.
  7. Develop and execute a plan for addressing identified security gaps.

  8. DevOps Transition Support:
  9. Assess current offshore DevOps support and provide a plan for transitioning key responsibilities and processes to internal or alternative resources.
  10. Identify and prioritize critical DevOps updates for seamless ongoing support.

  11. Environment Optimization:
  12. Review the existing Azure environment to identify opportunities for retiring unused components or streamlining operations.
  13. Provide actionable recommendations to simplify support and improve system efficiency.

  14. Operational Strategy:
  15. Define and recommend an optimized DevOps support model to meet ongoing organizational needs.

Qualifications:
  • Proven experience with Azure DevOps and cloud-based application management.
  • Strong expertise in implementing and managing Azure Firewalls and other Azure security tools.
  • Familiarity with Azure Synapse and blob storage environments.
  • Experience in coordinating projects involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze and address security concerns, including interpreting penetration test findings.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills to facilitate knowledge transfer.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage time effectively within a part-time commitment.

Preferred Skills:
  • Knowledge of batch pipeline processing and sFTP server integrations.
  • Experience working in environments that handle sensitive data (PHI/PII).
  • Familiarity with risk management processes and tools.

Timeline:
  • Firewall Installation: Target completion by end of the year.
  • Engagement Completion: Q2 2025.

Additional Details:
  • Consultant will work on a part-time basis with a maximum of 10 hours per week.
  • Must use a company-provided laptop due to data sensitivity.
  • Any additional hours must be pre-approved by the Technology Services leadership.
